The Holland Marsh is the vegetable capital of Ontario. The level of the water in the canals that edge the marsh is higher than the level of the fertile, black, organic soil where the vegetables are grown. The station pumps the water up 2.4 metres. It eventually flows into the Holland River and Lake Simcoe.
