About Us
Gord Davenport Automotive Inc. was founded by Gord Davenport on May 9, 1972. With only seven employees, the store opened at Mono Plaza as a McKerlie Millen Associate (known today as CARQUEST) where they stayed for two years renting from the Edelbrock Brothers.
In 1974, Gord moved his business to the former VW Dealership on Highway 10. In September of that same year, Gord opened a second branch in Arthur, Ontario, which was operated by Gord’s son Jim Davenport who is the company President today.
Through hard work and dedication, the business continued to flourish and in 1977, Gord Davenport Automotive became a member of Modern Sales Co-op, an automotive cooperative buying group.
Gord kept the momentum going and in May 1979, opened his third store in Shelburne, Ontario. In its 12th year of business, the Orangeville store moved once again in 1984 to its present location on 74 First Street. The fourth and final branch opened its doors for business in Bradford, Ontario in April 1986. In February 2009 with the industry and economy vastly changing, DAVENPORTS teamed up with CARQUEST Canada as a main supplier of auto parts.
Today DAVENPORTS (Gord Davenport Automotive Inc.) remains a successful family owned and operated business with a third generation of family members in the business. DAVENPORTS is currently celebrating its 40th year in business and has 46 dedicated employees working throughout the four stores eager to assist you in your automotive needs. Exceptional customer service with the personal touch continues to be the foundation of this thriving business today.
